Use nowAbout Web tools
Browser tools answer the question of what your environment is. That covers browser and engine version, screen resolution and pixel ratio, operating system, language and CPU cores. The page reads these from the navigator and screen objects, live, with nothing to install.
The camera and microphone test captures and echoes the media stream locally. Video and audio never leave the device, the permission lives only inside the browser session, and the stream is released when the test ends. Use it before a video call, during development, or to check that a privacy tweak such as a spoofed user agent took effect.
How to choose the right Web
- Screenshot environment info first
Hand over the detected browser, OS and resolution when reporting a problem and you skip a round of questions. A screenshot is more precise than a description.
- For media tests, insist on local echo
Confirm the tool previews locally. Here the feed renders only in the page, the mic level is shown live, and permission is revocable from the address bar.
- Cross-check UA against the engine
User-agent strings are spoofable; engine fingerprints like the WebGL renderer are harder to fake. Compare both when you suspect a changed environment.
- Verify across two browsers
When a compatibility issue is suspected, open the same page in two different engine families and compare. The difference itself points to engine or settings.
Common web mistakes
- Passing locally is enough
Camera and microphone permissions vary by browser and OS. The same page can behave differently in Chrome and Safari, so test both.
- Browser info equals identity
User agents are spoofable and fingerprints are not unique. Good for debugging, wrong for identity decisions.
- A key tester fixes keyboards
It only shows whether events reach the page. If an OS shortcut eats the key, fix that in system settings, not here.
